A parakeet amongst the Croton plant 😁
A thoughtful gift by a friend brings back a memory of the time when a parrot walked into our home with an injured wing.
We nursed it to health, my mom and I. It made our Croton plant its home and as it got better it started chirping from somewhere within the colorful foliage in our living room 😊. It was a delightful song he sang and a blessed sight to spot it, content amongst the giant Croton plant.
Then one day, when he was healthy enough, he took wing, taking a bit of our heart with it and leaving behind a residue of chillies and fruits inside the pot that was his home for some months. 😁
Hope you lived a good life visitor bird. And remembered us with the same fondness, as we do you … ❣️
Those who have had enough of my morning bird pics, my apologies for yet another one 🙄!
But, in my defence, I just couldn’t resist!!
The forces have doubled! They’ve spread the word around 😁… And now there are around twenty shrieking parrots at a time 😮
Other variety of birds dare to come only after these energetic ruffians have left. Even the crows keep their distance!
I notice different personalities in this wild lot. There is one with just one foot, he seldom gets into the thick of the feeding, preferring a small pile of grain on the side. Then there is the ‘Zen’ parrot… Calm as a Monk, relishes each grain peacefully, one at a time. Not for him the ‘stuffing the mouth in haste’ business. He is elegance personified. When the others take off in a startled hurry, he stands his ground, looks up to see of there is any real danger and then resumes his breakfast, shaking his head at the impatience of youth! 😎
Today was a Sunday, my day to laze in bed, but even through the earplugs, (I have to stuff in because of the snores of my pugs 😅) I could hear their grumbling from the branches closest to my bedroom!
So here I am, with another tale to tell, before I get back into bed for some Sunday reading and sketching!!
Have a good one! 🤗
Went to a public sector bank today. Some passbooks needed to be updated and a new one made as well.
Sitting behind the counter was a young man. Newly married, by the way other bank staff were coming to look at his shiny gold watch and pull his leg with some ribald jokes. It also happened to be his birthday 😊.
He looked at me, partially shy and somewhat embarrassed. But he continued to do my work patiently, even as a queue formed behind me. I thought I’ll be called tomorrow for the new pass book. 😶
Finally after some rebooting of the system and a few false starts, the printer regurgitated all the updated passbooks and also the new one. 😃
While waiting, I reached into my purse for the Mars Bar chocolate that I usually carry.
As he gave me my passbooks, I handed him the chocolate saying, “Happy Birthday!”
I didn’t know what his reaction would be, it just felt so right to make that connect!
His smile was priceless, after the initial look of surprise 😊

I was rushing out in the morning and didn’t have time to leave food for all the birds and squirrels who look forward to their meal outside my balcony.
I requested my son, who is a Public Policy major, to do the needful. Just before leaving, I asked him, “You do know what to do na?”
His reply, “I have to ensure a democratic destribution of birdfeed so that no one creature is neglected or exploited. For this I shall make small piles of grains all over, ensuring that the smallest and the largest…the strongest and the weakest will have their fair share, without fighting for it.”
Needless to say, I left in great haste!
