People travel to all sorts of exotic places and because of so much connectivity one finds oneself inundated with inspiration.
I save many images, some for their colour others for the subject…once in a while I bring out a photo stare at it for a while, relish the colours, the contrasts and the values… Then I put it away and rely solely on my impression of it to work in my sketch book.
I feel this gives me a sense of direction and also complete freedom to have a ‘selective’ memory 😊
What better way
To pass the time away
Than by sitting ‘midst flowers
In spring 😊💐

The biggest joy of watercolours is the spontaneity with which they can be done. This is still a more deliberate sketch because a little stem of the poinsettia broke when I was cleaning the pots. It made sense to use is for some sketching but I wanted to pair it with unlikely options, so this is what I ended up doing 😊

A world of floating forms
in a Lotus pond…
Flowers blown in
by the careless breeze
In murky water…

Swaddled in layers of clothing, the kids up on the high hills of Leh look like stuffed dolls 😊
Enjoyed doing this watercolour, layer upon layer, just as the mist in the Mountains… Rolling… Shifting…!
Over and over again, in many different ways, I realise the joy of consistency.
At one point, habits one wanted to inculcate, never really developed, excuses came in the way. All believable, justifiable…
Then, one day, things fell in place. My desire to paint a sketch a day, became a habit that intrenched itself seamlessly into my routine. I would get up early or work late, or draw in waiting rooms or lounges, but I never made any excuse.
I realise the many levels of bliss that open up when the eyes start seeing things in New ways and the hands understand the minds subtle orders of seamless coordination.
There is no time for procrastination, one is too busy doing things that one deeply enjoys and has made time for… 😊
I love a good vine😊.
The kind that meanders aimlessly, latches on to ropes and wires, finds finger holds inside crevices, so that it can go further and farther.
I love it’s little tendrils and the joy of finding small fruits shielded by big leaves, just suddenly, and then you lift more leaves and are constantly surprised by just how busy its been, creating flowers and fruits 😊!
I love a good vine because it has the audacity to think that it has the strength to give birth to something as huge as a pumpkin and still meander along merrily.
It’s this stubborn streak in it, that I most admire 😁
