It was a grey day. Dark and overcast. I went to check on the Koi fish to see how they were doing and reassure myself that their pond had not overflown with the incessant night rain.
There was nothing in sight barring some bedraggled water Lillies and fat, round Lilly pads, collecting water… And then, as if on cue, a vibrant cloud of Koi appeared from under the leaves… Gorgeous, pure, graceful and languid…. Totally unaware of the surrounding drab and muddy weather, they were just sure of their own purpose… That of adding a spark to the environment in which they lived and in the only way they knew how 😊!

Nature is a teacher like no other!!
The Tulip Gardens in Srinagar are open to public from the 1st to 15th of April.
After longing to be there for years I finally found myself smack in the middle of them!! They took my breath away to say the least.
The setting of the gardens, in a Valley, overlooked by lofty mountains and fluffy clouds is supremely beautiful. Row upon row of the most glorious colors compliment each other and the eyes soak it all in and the heart releases a sigh of gratitude at such beauty!

The expanse of a lake filled with blooming Lotus can relax any mind. Even when painting in the studio, the feeling is similar. As I choose colors and blend them, moving way back to see if there is a sense of space in my canvas, I feel touched by an unknown power. It imparts peace and joy and a strange contentment that makes me feel complete… I want for nothing then, except to share that beautiful joy with others … ☺️🌼
Working with rice paper and water colours, throwing in a bit of acrylic and ink is a joy that has to be felt.
Cows figure in my work often because of their calm form and peaceful disposition. Lotus is a regular too because this one flower has so much to teach about life😊
To have enough time,
to observe the gifts of nature
without feeling the need
to rush off somewhere
Very few things compare
to a walk in the rain,
on a road thats taking you home
after a busy day in school!
