Of ‘Miles’ and ‘Stones’!!ย

All the ‘Miles’ and all the ‘Stones’ that littered our journey came together to become ‘Milestones’. No longer testing events, but a testament to our resilience and invincible spirit.

Another year passing only teaches us that nothing lasts…. Celebrate and move on. Years divide life into bite-size portions, easier to digest! It also gives us the opportunity to choose a different flavour for our next picking ๐Ÿ˜Š.

However you may celebrate, drowned in sound or solitude or silence, with friends or loved ones or someone or no one… Its a milestone we are reaching together.

Thank you for being a part of my journey… And hopefully, a part of me was in yours… ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ˜!

Wishes for a blessed 2018!

The Driving Test ๐Ÿ˜‚

So. I went to Sheikh Sarai to get my licence renewed.๐Ÿ˜Ž

The all important Window No 1. looked empty from a distance so I increased my speed to a double trot, not believing my good luck.๐Ÿ˜

Once there, the reason became clear… Starting 26th Dec, all tests were going to be conducted from Sarai Kale Khan ๐Ÿ™„.

When I broke this news to my driver he was shocked…. But that’s so far, he exclaimed.

I would have nothing of it. So off we went in search of this elusive place. Upon reaching I was introduced to a full-blown, complex, complicated course, designed to make you fail!

The instructor incharge was a man of few words..

I will not repeat my instructions, you don’t follow, you can leave. You touch the embankment, you leave. If you cannot make a tight, looped, 8, leave, if you cannot parallel park, you know what to do… I thought in my heart, When do we stay!??

To make matters more interesting, as it happens in India all the time, when there is a high probability of people making a fool of themselves in public, a large group had gathered around the boundary walls of the driving course.. (my driver included ๐Ÿ˜ถ).

Having driven most of my adult life, I was working out my cuts and turns in my head, visualizing amazing grace and dexterity in my every turn ๐Ÿ˜‡. It didn’t help that the three drivers ahead of me were disqualified for climbing on various embankments ๐Ÿ˜ฅ within minutes of each other.

When my turn came, I reached the instructor efficiently… Only to be told,

Seatbelt kaun bandhe Gaa???

Looking suitably shame-faced, I buckled in and tackled the course, with minor hiccups ๐Ÿ˜.

I remembered to give the indicator everytime the road turned, I was neither fast, nor furious (๐Ÿ˜‚) just a picture of calm on the outside.

When the result was announced, I felt no less than Miss World!!! I could’ve thrown flying kisses to all the hangers on, who were showing me the ‘thumbs up’ sign ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜

But I didn’t.

I was just glad that I hadn’t failed the test that my son had passed!!

Mayhem in the Morning ๐Ÿ˜Š

Good morning!!

Those who have had enough of my morning bird pics, my apologies for yet another one ๐Ÿ™„!

๐Ÿ˜„

But, in my defence, I just couldn’t resist!!

The forces have doubled! They’ve spread the word around ๐Ÿ˜… And now there are around twenty shrieking parrots at a time ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Other variety of birds dare to come only after these energetic ruffians have left. Even the crows keep their distance!

I notice different personalities in this wild lot. There is one with just one foot, he seldom gets into the thick of the feeding, preferring a small pile of grain on the side. Then there is the ‘Zen’ parrot… Calm as a Monk, relishes each grain peacefully, one at a time. Not for him the ‘stuffing the mouth in haste’ business. He is elegance personified. When the others take off in a startled hurry, he stands his ground, looks up to see of there is any real danger and then resumes his breakfast, shaking his head at the impatience of youth! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Today was a Sunday, my day to laze in bed, but even through the earplugs, (I have to stuff in because of the snores of my pugs ๐Ÿ˜…) I could hear their grumbling from the branches closest to my bedroom!

So here I am, with another tale to tell, before I get back into bed for some Sunday reading and sketching!!

Have a good one! ๐Ÿค—

Birds on Board!!ย

I came out after my bath to find these two happily finalising the place for their nest ๐Ÿ˜ฏ…

More than the shock of finding not one, but two birds in my bedroom, was the fear that they had no idea just how they had got in!

Getting pigeons out of your room is quite like playing carrom. You keep moving them to the nearest exit one step at a time, quite like we did with the ‘queen’ in the hope of ensnaring her ๐Ÿ˜Ž

So from the AC, I shooed them to the fan, from the fan to the nearest light fitting, from the fitting to the chair and then finally, out the door that I had left open for some fresh winter air ๐Ÿ˜!
